SDCC 2011: 'Dexter' Season 6 Trailer Is A Religious Experience

After a season that left us -- I'll say it -- a bit underwhelmed, it seems that Dexter is going back to its roots. Enigmatic murders tied together by a simple string -- this time that string seems to be the Lord Almighty. Maybe it's a sign that therapy is in order, but this trailer, shown last night at Comic Con, gets us all riled up for Season 6 with blood spatters, lots of Michael C. Hall and the overwhelming punch of Marilyn Manson's version of "Personal Jesus" washing over scenes of murder and intrigue. Of course we also get a glimpse at our highly anticipated guest stars, Edward James Olmos, Mos Def, and Colin Hanks all of whom look pretty sinister themselves. This is fantastic. Welcome back, Dex. Expect a bit of thunderous applause.

Dexter premieres on Showtime on Sunday, October 2 at 9 p.m. (PT/ET).
