HOLLYWOOD - Oscar winner Susan Sarandon has paid tribute to tragic actor Brad Renfro, who died earlier this week at age 25.
The actress starred alongside Renfro in 1994's The Client and admits it was a pleasure to work with such young talent.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Thelma and Louise star said, "He was 11 in The Client and it was obvious to everyone that he was the sweetest, most incredibly gifted young actor to come along for some time. My heart goes out to the family for their tragic loss."
Renfro was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning.
An autopsy is planned for Thursday to determine how he died.
The young actor had a history of drug problems.
