HOLLYWOOD - Sean Penn flew into a rage when he spotted a poster promoting his new movie The Interpreter featured a logo he never authorized, forcing Universal to publicly apologize to the actor. The seasoned star--who has an agreement with film studio Universal stating
he's to be consulted on all promotion-related decisions--was infuriated by the
advert in the L.A. Times, because it sported a banner for
cell phone giant T-Mobile.
Upon learning of Penn's disgust at the presence of the T-Mobile slogan--and his fury over not being asked about it--Universal published an ad in the
April 22 edition of L.A. Times to appease the star.
It read: "Sean Penn was not consulted about this advertisement, as is required in his agreement with the film's production company, Working Title.
Universal Pictures regrets this oversight."
