If you ever wonder what purpose a company like The New York Times serves in an age dominated by the Internet, see the amazing documentary Page One: Inside the New York Times. If you don't have 90-minutes, but require instant evidence, take a gander at their latest video project.

Photographer/Filmmaker Alex Prager, whose work is influenced by the bold colors and sharp lighting of the golden age of film, teamed up with the NYT to wrangle 2011's biggest movie stars for a video shoot inspired by classic big screen villains. Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Rooney Mara, George Clooney, Jessica Chastain, Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst and a handful of others chip in to bring the videos to life, a collection that's artsy, a little silly and a ton of fun. The project is a nice tip of the hat to time-honored classics before this same group runs the Oscar race early next year. Leave it to the Times to class up the web.
