Sequel to 1999's 'Best Man' in the Works


12 years after it first debuted in theaters, The Best Man is finally getting the sequel that fans have been desperately clamoring for. Deadline reports Universal has signed Best Man writer-director Malcolm D. Lee to craft a follow-up to his 1999 comedy, about a writer (Taye Diggs, pictured right) whose best pal (Morris Chestnut) is about to marry a woman (Nia Long) who, unbeknownst to the groom-to-be, he once slept with. Lee was reportedly inspired to pursue the project after a reunion dinner with some of the original castmembers, whom he hopes to bring back for the sequel.
