HOLLYWOOD - An armed man was shot and wounded by a Dominican Republic soldier on Monday night near the set of the forthcoming film adaptation of Miami Vice.

Producers Universal Pictures confirmed Mario Torres fired several shots near the Plaza Maria de Toledo hotel in Santo Domingo, leading the unnamed soldier, who was part of the movie's security team, to fire a single shot in Torres' side.

The big screen adaptation of the 1980s police show stars Jamie Foxx, Colin Farrell and is directed by Michael Mann.

A statement from Universal says, "None of the film's cast and crew was hurt.

An investigation by local authorities is under way regarding the incident, and the production is cooperating with this investigation."
