HOLLYWOOD - O.J. Simpson has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Las Vegas on Thursday night.
The former football star reportedly raided a suite at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, pretending to be part of a group interested in buying memorabilia items from collector Alfred Beardsley.
The items included the suit the Naked Gun star wore when he was acquitted of the double murder of his wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
At a press conference late on Sunday afternoon, Las Vegas Police Capt. James Dillon told reporters that Simpson faces charges on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm.
Simpson was arrested in his room at the Palms Hotel in Last Vegas earlier on Sunday and was taken to a nearby police station.
Hours later, during the press conference, Simpson was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, and was said to be cooperative during his arrest.
Another man, Walter Alexander, a longtime friend of Simpson, was also arrested for conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with the alleged raid. He was released on bail early on Sunday.
Police have also confirmed they have seized two guns they believe were used in the alleged robbery. Four men are still being sought in connection with the incident.
