'Slumdog' Star Ali Made Homeless

Director Danny Boyle and cast of 'Slumdog Millionaire' visit Santa Monica Pier. Los Angeles, CA - 02/24/09
Young Slumdog Millionaire star Rubina Ali is facing life on the streets of Mumbai, India, after her home was torn down by authorities -- just days after her co-star suffered the same fate.

Ali's father was also hospitalized after police allegedly beat him to force the family to leave their residence on Wednesday.

Their shanty shack was destroyed, along with dozens of others in the area -- and now the 9-year-old is terrified of having nowhere to live.

She tells the Associated Press, "I'm feeling bad. My house had been demolished. I'm thinking about where to sleep."

Ali's stepmother Munni Qureshi has hit out at officials for their heavy-handed measures in evicting the family: "How can the police barge in anytime without giving us notice?"

The youngster's co-star Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail's home was also demolished last week -- but his family has now rebuilt the makeshift residence.
