Anna Nicole Smith Cause of Death Investigation Delayed by New Evidence

Anna Nicole Smith
HOLLYWOOD - The cause of death in the Anna Nicole Smith tragedy faces a fresh delay thanks to new evidence presented to the Florida medical examiner overseeing the investigation.

Broward County examiner Dr. Joshua Perper has confirmed new findings could potentially change his conclusion about the cause of death.

Perper admits he had determined a cause of death until he met with Chief Charlie Tiger of the Seminole Police Department on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Chief Tiger revealed he had new evidence that he wanted to be evaluated. This new information is being kept confidential.

Perper says, "We exchanged information. They informed us about additional pieces of evidence that they have obtained.

"This is going to delay (things) for another week or two."

Smith was found dead in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on Feb. 8.
