IESB is reporting that
Will Smith is locked in for a sequel to his breakout hit
Independence Day -- along with a third in the series.
The plan for the films, according to the Web site, would be to shoot them back-to-back. According to sources, if all goes according to plan, the sequel(s) could shoot as early as 2011.
This would be
Roland Emmerich's next directorial effort after his William Shakespeare thriller
Anonymous and would come after
whatever project Smith chooses to do next: either
The City That Sailed or
Men in Black III.
IESB notes that though the info comes via a reliable source, it should be filed under "Rumor" for the time being.
