Britney Spears' Dad Given Control Extension

Britney Spears
HOLLYWOOD - Britney Spears' father, Jamie, will remain in temporary control of his daughter's legal and financial affairs for another four months, a Los Angeles judge has ruled.

Jamie Spears was appointed conservator of the pop star's estate with court-appointed observer Andrew Wallet at the start of February.

His shared responsibility for the troubled singer's affairs was due to end on March 10, but L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz has now extended the conservatorship period until July 31.

Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini tells People.com, "I can confirm that the order was issued this afternoon, but I don't know the attorneys' motives."

The decision was made at an unscheduled court hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
