HOLLYWOOD - Emmy Award winners Jeremy Piven and Mariska Hargitay sobbed backstage after the prize-giving ceremony last night as they remembered their fathers.
Piven held back tears during his acceptance speech as he paid tribute to his late father, but they flowed when reporters inquired about his moving speech.
When asked by one what he thought his father would have said if he was at the ceremony, Piven struggled with his words.
Fighting back tears, he said, "Interesting..." before sobbing, "Well he is here and he's very proud."
Hargitay was also caught out by thoughts of her father, ailing former boxing champion Mickey Hargitay.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress told reporters the best thing about winning an Emmy was "that my dad was gonna be really happy."
The actress' father has been battling ill health ever since Hargitay gave birth to her first child, August, in June. Her father was ill in the same hospital.
