Howard K. Stern has been formally charged with conspiring to supply drugs to Anna Nicole Smith -- two years after her death from an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
Stern, Smith's lawyer and longtime partner, as well as doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich have been charged with conspiring to provide controlled substances to the former Playboy model from July 2004 until January 2007.
All three defendants have also been accused of "prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict," among other charges.
Kapoor, 40, was arrested on Thursday and booked by authorities in Whittier, California, where he remains in custody pending $20,000 bail.
Warrants have also been issued for the arrests of Stern, 40, and Eroshevich, 61.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says, "Attorneys for all three defendants have been notified of the charges against them and arrangements are being made for all three to appear in court."
Smith died at age 39 in February 2007 after overdosing on prescription medications -- just months after her 20-year-old son Daniel also died of a lethal combination of drugs.
