Steve Carell is looking to star in a new drama about talking to dogs. Yes, you read that right -- a drama about talking to dogs.
The actor hopes to star in Dogs of Babel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will produce the project along with David Heyman of Heyday Films and Corey May and Dooma Wendschuh of Sekretagent Productions.
The film, based on the novel by Carolyn Pankhurst, centers on a linguistics professor (Carell) who one day loses his wife in an unexpectedly. Police rule it an accident, but the professor believes otherwise so he attempts to teach the only witness of her death -- their dog -- to talk. So, apparently, Dogs of Babel will be like the unholy spawn of Dr. Dolittle and Message in a Bottle.
