The domestic diva's daughter Alexis has allegedly turned to a surrogate to help her start a family after failing to conceive via in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

The National Enquirer claims Alexis was determined to become a mother and tried to conceive during her marriage to attorney John Cuti.

The couple divorced in 2004 but the 45 year old refused to give up on her family dream, and she has now chosen a woman in Pennsylvania to carry her child, which is due in the spring (11).

And Stewart, 69, is thrilled at the news.

A family insider tells the publication, "Martha is so excited to be a grandma. But she is also happy because her only daughter's dream is finally coming true."

A representative for Stewart had yet to comment on the report as WENN went to press.
