Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in "24"

HOLLYWOOD - Kiefer Sutherland has quashed rumors he plans to leave hit TV drama 24 by signing a lucrative deal tying him to the show for three more seasons.

It has been reported the 39-year-old will earn in excess of $40 million for the acting portion of his new contract, which also includes a two-year development agreement for Sutherland's soon-to-launch production company.

Sutherland had previously been dogged by rumors Edward Norton was in negotiations to take over the role of Jack Bauer in the show in 2007.
