TNT Renews 'Falling Skies' For a Second Season

Noah WyleGood news for (apparently) a whole lot more of you than I thought: TNT’s alien invasion series Falling Skies is renewed for a second season.

The science-fiction drama stars Noah Wyle as a former history professor playing an authoritative role in the post-invasion military society and vying against all odds to keep his sons safe, all the while fostering a good deal of chemistry with a pediatrician played by Moon Bloodgood.

Apparently, the network isn't taking any big risks by issuing the renewal. Falling Skies garners over six million viewers per week: the highest ratings for a cable drama. The fifth episode of the first season, “Silent Kill,” will debut this Sunday. The second season is set to air at the beginning of summer 2012.
