TV STUFF: 'Survivor' Guy's Small-Town Drama

HOLLYWOOD - It may have been the plot of a "Picket Fences" episode. Richard Hatch, the naked-guy-cum-millionaire of "Survivor" fame, was presented Monday with a proclamation commemorating Richard Hatch day in his hometown of Middletown, R.I.

What makes all this interesting is that Hatch filed a lawsuit against the city a few months ago after a child abuse charge was raised against him and then dropped by local authorities. He's seeking unspecified damages.

During the ceremonies, Hatch got a Middletown T-shirt from the town council. He quipped, "Is this a hint?"

NOIR GUY GETS TV DEAL: James Ellroy, whose book "L.A. Confidential" was turned into an Oscar-winning movie, will executive produce "Detour," a TV movie about the love affair between Lana Turner and gangster Jimmy Stompanato. Turner stabbed Stompanato to death in 1958, in what was ruled justifiable homicide. Sounds like it's right up Ellroy's alley.
