After weeks of waiting for answers to the cause of Amy Winehouse's tragic death, we still don't have any conclusive evidence as to what caused it. Apparently the singer had no illegal drugs in her system when she died, so now we know what didn't kill her, but have yet to find out exactly what did. The family said in a statement that toxicology tests showed “alcohol was present,” but it hasn’t yet been determined if it was a contributing factor. Spokesman Chris Goodman released a statement on the family’s behalf saying “toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death.”
So after all this time, we still don't have any concrete evidence as to the cause of death? These CSI shows get things done so quickly that it gives me a false sense of how long all these tests and reports take -- I want some answers. My money is on alcohol being the culprit, which is what Winehouse's family believes as well. Her father admitted that even though she had beaten her drug dependency three years ago, she was still struggling to control her drinking. If it wasn't drugs that killed her, then it has to be alcohol -- what else could it be? Hopefully everything will be cleared up soon, so her family can start to move past this whole tragic ordeal and finally get some closure. The family is awaiting the outcome of an inquest that is due to begin in October.
