The singer announced via Twitter this morning that her hubby, Nick Cannon, is currently on the mend after suffering from "mild kidney failure." Along with the update, Carey uploaded a photo of herself with Cannon from inside his Aspen, Colorado hospital room. Furthermore, the starlet commented about the situation on her official site, writing, "We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful," adding, "We're doing OK but we're stranded in Aspen.   • James Franco goes by many titles: actor, producer, grad student, Oscar host -- and now the infamous multi-tasker is set to add one more title to his ever-growing list: novelist. According to the New York Observer, Franco sold his first novel, Actors Anonymous, loosely based on his own life, to Amazon Publishing. If you remember, this isn't Franco's first work of fiction (thought it is his first novel). The actor released a book of short stories called Palo Alto back in June.   • Just in case you were worried the Kardashian empire wasn't big enough, Page Six is reporting that the fame-seeking reality stars now want to lead their own media coverage and are working to launch their own glossy magazine, dedicated entirely to their family. You know, because they don't get enough coverage already. A source commented that "This is a Kardashian idea. They have been reaching out to several media outlets." And apparently, the girls plan on being heavily involved editorially, so rest assured we'll all be getting nothing but the truth about the family's on-goings from now on. I'm sure. - Page Six

  • And regarding news that's just too ridiculous not to mention, Angelina Jolie bought Brad Pitt a waterfall for his Christmas/birthday gift, putting all other Christmas and birthday gifts worldwide to shame.
