Matrix Reloaded
HOLLYWOOD - According to figures released Tuesday, The Matrix Reloaded topped the British box office in its opening weekend, taking in £8.8 million (approximately $14.6 million in U.S. dollars) in three days, Reuters reports.

"It is the fourth highest opening weekend ever," Robert Mitchell, box office analyst at chart compiler Screen International told Reuters, trailing behind the first two Harry Potter movies and Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones.

Others on the British box office list included X2: X-Men United, which fell to second place with £9 million, while the Australian Outback comedy Kangaroo Jack took third with £5 million.

Rowan Atkinson's James Bond spoof Johnny English, which opens in the U.S. July 18, came in at No. 4 with £4 million, bringing its total to £18.4 million.

The remaining films on the top 10 are older releases for the U.S., but still doing well overseas: Old School (No. 5), How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days (No. 6), The Hot Chick (No. 7), Darkness Falls (No. 8), The Jungle Book 2 (No. 9) and Phone Booth (No. 10).
