HOLLYWOOD - O.J. Simpson will struggle to get out of his latest armed robbery charges--a third co-defendant has agreed to testify against the former football star after striking a deal with prosecutors.
Michael McClinton, 49, appeared in a Las Vegas court on Monday where he confirmed he would give evidence against Simpson in exchange for a more lenient sentence.
Clark County courts spokesman Michael Sommermeyer says, "He indicated in court... that he would plead guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and a robbery charge."
McClinton's deal follows those of co-defendants Walter Alexander and Charles Cashmore, who pleaded guilty to lesser charges of felony conspiracy to commit robbery and felony accessory to robbery, respectively, in the alleged hotel suite theft of sports collectibles in September.
In return for their testimony, Clark County District Attorney David Roger has agreed to drop charges including kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon against Alexander and Cashmore, who are now free on bail pending sentencing.
Simpson and his remaining two co-defendants, Clarence Stewart and Charles Erlich, are due in court on Nov. 8 and 9 for preliminary hearings, when a judge is expected to take the case to trial.
