HOLLYWOOD - Toyota will be able to place its cars in Universal movies -- in most cases without additional charge -- as part of a marketing deal with Vivendi Universal worth "tens of millions" of dollars that is likely to be announced Tuesday, according to the Wall Street Journal. The deal calls for Toyota to have "first look" rights for all automobile product placement deals in Universal films. Stephanie Sperber, Universal's senior vice president for global alliances, told the newspaper that although Toyota won't have to pay for those placements in most movies, an additional fee may be charged for some "event" films like Jurassic Park III. "You'll be seeing a lot of Toyotas in our upcoming films," she said. Among other things, the deal also calls for Toyota to sponsor Universal theme park rides and for the production of compilation CDs featuring Universal Music recording artists that could be included in the sale of all new cars.
