There was a time when VH1 reality shows were the BEST. Chocked full o' trashy drama, shows like The Surreal House, Flavor of Love, Rock of Love and even Charm School were so far from reality that they wrapped back around and made us question just how unrealistic they actually were. Those shows were insane and amazing, but if you look at VH1's slate of reality shows now, you'd be hard pressed to find a favorite. Maybe that's why the channel just decided to bring back a beloved, actually music-related show: Pop Up Video. I'll pause while you do a happy dance to the Pop Up Video intro playing in your head. This rules, right?!
I remember spending any given summer morning watching Pop Up Video as a kid and not understanding any of the ironically-placed knowledge nuggets, but thoroughly enjoying it nonetheless. Apparently, this reincarnation will be different because, OH MY GOSH THEY CAN USE RAP VIDEOS! MTV used to have those vids on lock, but now, VH1 has the okay to put little pop culture bubbles all over Wiz Khalifia's face. Score! But let's be honest, they could play old BBMak videos with info bubbles and we'd still love it.
VH1 also ordered more Mob Wives and Love and Hip Hop, but who really cares when we know that we're going to get 60 new episodes of Pop Up Video! And in case you're too young to remember this song or the original show, here's a fantastic example of the terrible awesomeness headed your way.
