With the sequel to this summer's hit Scooby-Doo well into production, the studio is already planning a third Scooby installment.

Warners has hired screenwriters Dan Forman and Paul Foley to pen the Scooby 3 script. The duo just turned in a rewrite for The Jetsons, yet another animated television series making it to the big screen, for the studio.

Warner Bros. was banking that if the first Scooby-Doo, directed by Raja Gosnell, did well at the box office, it would launch a profitable franchise. The film went beyond anyone's expectations, opening with a whopping $54.1 million and grossing more than $153 million domestically.

Our fearless Mystery, Inc. crew--including Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne and Linda Cardellini as Velma--had sequel clauses built into their original contracts and are expected to return for future installments. As will Scooby, although he's asking for a lot more Scooby snacks.
