Denzel Washington Beats the Cold with Cash Gift

Denzel Washington
HOLLYWOOD - Denzel Washington has warmed the hearts and hands of Rocky Mount, Virginia, residents—by donating $25,000 to a charity that helps people struggling to meet winter heating costs.

The Training Day star, 50, made the generous gift to the Winter Assistance for Rocky Mount program, as a gesture to his friend and Rocky Mount native Herman Boone—whom he portrayed in 2000 movie Remember the Titans.

The donation is thought to be the biggest the charity has ever received in its 19-year history.
