William Friedkin Taking 'Inconvenient Truth' to the Opera House

HOLLYWOOD - The Exorcist director William Friedkin has been recruited to direct the forthcoming opera adaptation of global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth.

The production will open in Italy at Milan's famous La Scala opera house on May 11, 2011. It will be written by poet J.D. McClatchy and the score composed by Giorgio Battistelli.

Director Davis Guggenheim's film, which starred former Vice President Al Gore as narrator, premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and has since taken the world by storm.

The documentary won Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Song at 2007's ceremony.
