Amy Winehouse arrives for her appearance at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court. London, England - 03/17/09
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has been charged with assault over her bust-up with staff at a theater in the U.K.

The Back to Black hitmaker allegedly kicked the venue's boss in the groin when he asked her to stop shouting obscenities during a Christmas show for kids in Milton Keynes, England, on Saturday.

It was claimed that parents in the audience had complained Winehouse was shouting and cursing throughout the show. She was asked to vacate the audience and move to a private box, but reportedly attacked the manager, Richard Pound.

He filed an official complaint with local Thames Valley police, and Winehouse attended a station in Milton Keynes on Wednesday, where she was charged with a public order offense and common assault.

The singer, who was charged under her married name of Amy Civil, is due to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court on Jan. 20.
