Writer, director turn heads with "Exorcist" suit

Hollywood - Charging in effect that Warner Bros. had cooked the books to deprive them of their legitimate profits from last year's re-release of The Exorcist, writer William Blatty and director William Friedkin have sued the studio, demanding more than percent of the movie's profits. The suit alleges that Warner Bros. diverted profits away from The Exorcist in order to avoid paying Blatty and Friedkin the amount due them. Entertainment attorney Bert Fields, who is representing the pair, told Bloomberg news that they are asking an "eight-figure amount," but he refused to be more specific.
