Heche, 32, who starred with Harrison Ford in the 1998 film Six Days, Seven Nights, became known for her relationship with comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, 43, becoming one of America's most prominent lesbian couples. They revealed their love affair publicly in 1997, shortly after DeGeneres came out of the closet on her ABC series Ellen. The couple split up in August of last year.
The newly married couple reportedly met while the 27-year-old Laffoon was working on a documentary about DeGeneres' stand-up comedy tour, Reuters reports. Heche and Laffon plan to honeymoon after Heche finishes conducting a 10-city book tour to promote her autobiography, "Call Me Crazy."
According to People, the memoir reveals that for 31 years, Heche suffered from mental illness that was triggered by sexual abuse at the hands of her father. The actress, who described herself as "insane" in a recent ABCNEWS.com interview, is scheduled to talk about her long history of mental instability with Barbara Walters on Wednesday's installment of 20/20.
According to ABC releases, Heche will talk about the sexual abuse and about her alter ego, named Celestia, who's from another planet and speaks to God.
