Will Emmy stint help Ellen?

Nov 06, 2001 | 9:46am EST

Despite her critically acclaimed stint as host of Sunday night's Emmy Awards, Ellen DeGeneres's new sitcom, Ellen, is not likely to remain on CBS for long, the New York Post observed today.

The newspaper quoted Allison Johnson, supervisor of national broadcast research for media buyers Zenith Media as saying: "I know that CBS used [the Emmys] as an opportunity to promote the show [and] to give people more of a feel for Ellen and her style ... but I'm not sure that's going to make a difference."

The network declined to comment on the show's future viability.
