Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington joins the $20 million club, Variety reports.

He'll be bringing home the hefty paycheck when he starts his next project Out of Time, a dark comedy about a small Florida town's police chief who makes a mistake in judgment and has wile his way out of a difficult situation. Of course, two women also complicate his life.

The MGM film has Washington teaming up once again with Devil in a Blue Dress director Carl Franklin. Filming begins in May.

"The tone of this film is lighter than Denzel's last two films, but it is smart, fun and has tentpole potential," MGM production president Alex Gartner told Variety.

Washington has had numerous offers but chose Out of Time so he could work with Franklin again. The actor just wrapped post-production on his directorial debut, tentatively titled The Antwone Fisher Story, in which he also starred. Fisher is slated for release sometime in late fall.
