Warner Bros. has decided to release The Matrix Reloaded Thursday, May 15, 2003--one day earlier than expected, Variety reports.
"There's a pent-up demand for the movie, and we want to get it out there as soon as we can," Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.' executive VP and general sales manager of domestic distribution, told Variety. "It's already an event, but we wanted to make it more pronounced."
The film's opening, on more than 3,200 screens, will mark the first time Warner Bros. has released a film on a Thursday.
The third Matrix installment, The Matrix Revolutions, is scheduled for the 2003 holiday season.
