The couple exchanged vows Sunday at an undisclosed location in Mexico, their spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane, told the Associated Press Tuesday. The ceremony, attended by a group of friends and family, was kept a closely guarded secret from the public and the paparazzi.
The bride wore a Vera Wang gown while the groom opted for a custom-made linen suit.
The couple met while working on the set of the 1997 teen horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer. They started dating in 2001 and Gellar announced their engagement a year later at her 24th birthday party.
Currently the star of the UPN series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gellar won a Daytime Emmy in 1995 for outstanding younger actress for her portrayal of the scheming Kendall Hart on the ABC soap All My Children.
Gellar and Prinze co-starred in this summer's live-action adaptation of the popular cartoon Scooby-Doo--an ironic in-joke since the crime fighters on Buffy series were nicknamed "the Scooby gang." They newlyweds recently signed on for a Scooby-Doo sequel, set for release sometime in 2004.
