The Hollywood actress admits she learned a lot from the time she spent with Eastwood in 2008 and she drew on that experience as she began work on her directorial debut, a love story set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War.
She says, "Clint Eastwood taught me about working with people you love and making a family; working with nice people and good people. He's also very fast so I had to learn about the economy of shooting on a budget."
But the Dirty Harry legend wasn't the only filmmaker to inspire Jolie as she tried to tell the story of a Serbian soldier and a Bosnian woman caught up in the 1990s conflict.
She continues, "I learned a lot from Michael Winterbottom from A Mighty Heart with the way he set the tone and made it feel real and allowed air and room for the actors to create something that was not pushed upon them.
"I felt this huge pressure and responsibility to this very real, very difficult part of history to represent these people and this time. I still feel that pressure and will continue to feel that pressure."
