Brand: 'Phone throw was a tribute to Jobs'

The funnyman has been accused of hurling photographer Timothy Jackson's cell phone through the window of an abandoned building in New Orleans, Louisiana on Monday (12Mar12).

Jackson has filed a police report, citing "criminal damages" over the incident.

According to TMZ.com, authorities are now investigating the matter and want to speak to Brand.

The Arthur star has now taken to Twitter.com to defend his actions, stating, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."

Brand has offered to pay for the window he broke.
