Director Francis Ford Coppola is furious with the makers of a new The Godfather videogame because they didn't consult him for permission to tamper with his epic film.

Koch, the makers of videogame "The Godfather: The Video Game" insist the film's star Marlon Brando gave the game his blessing before he died last year and co-stars James Caan and Robert Duvall have given the game the OK after attending the launch party.

But Coppola is appalled by the new game, insisting it would have been courteous for the game makers to consult him.

He rages, "I had absolutely nothing to do with the game and I disapprove. I think it's a misuse of film."

Supporting the "Godfather" game, Caan says, "I like the notion that my kids could play with me even if I'm not there."
