The British funnyman's West End hit recently transferred to the Big Apple for a limited six-month run and the period comedy, set in the English seaside town of Brighton, officially opened at the Liberty Theatre on Wednesday night (18Apr12) to rave reviews.

The New York Post's Elisabeth Vincentelli claims Corden and his co-stars "succeed brilliantly" with their humour in a play which "leaves no comic stone unturned", while the New York Times' respected critic Ben Brantley awarded the show five out of five stars and recommended it as "ideal escapism for anxious times."

Entertainment Weekly celebrates Corden as a "blaze of genius", while The Hollywood Reporter's reviewer brands the Brit a "virtuoso ringmaster" who "wraps the audience around his pudgy finger".

And the New York Daily News' theatre writer Joe Dziemianowicz was just as enamoured with the "brilliant" Corden, quipping, "Can we keep James Corden in New York for good?"
