Last month (Mar12), the filmmaker plunged seven miles (11-kilometres) underwater to reach the Mariana Trench of the Pacific Ocean, southwest of Guam, breaking his own previous record of five miles (8.2 kilometres) off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

The Titanic filmmaker partnered with the National Geographic Society to "conduct deep-ocean research and exploration to expand our knowledge and understanding of these largely unknown parts of the planet", and now his amazing journey will be televised.

James Cameron: Voyage to the Bottom of the Earth will premiere in the U.S. on 29 April (12).
