The Magnum, P.I. star, who served in the 160th Infantry Regiment of the California Army National Guard in the 1960s, was among the speakers at Monday's (28May12) special ceremony at the site of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, on which the names of another 10 soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the conflict were added to the granite.

Marking the event, Selleck told the crowd, "There is a tradition at the Wall when a new name is added, it is added on Memorial Day. This year, 10 new names were added to the Wall. We ask the families of these heroes to rise as their loved ones' (names) are read."

This year (12) marks the 50th anniversary of the first significant U.S. military deployment to Vietnam. The war continued to rage on until 1975.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall now bears the names of 58,282 fallen war heroes.
