Reports suggest the ex-President's death is imminent as he slips in and out of consciousness at Cairo's Torah Prison.

Mubarak is suffering from an irregular heartbeat and currently requires assistance in breathing.

His health started deteriorating following a collapse last week (ends08Jun12) and he was transferred to the prison hospital's intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, Mubarak's wife has reportedly attacked prison officials for barring her and other family members from visiting her sick husband.

The former leader's lawyer Farid al-Deeb claims Mubarak will be transferred to a military hospital on the outskirts of Cairo within hours.

The reports of the former President's poor health will be good news for many Egyptians, who protested his life sentence verdict; they felt Mubarek should be executed for his crimes.
