"The Matrix" is the new king of the DVD world. The Hollywood Reporter reports that more than 3 million copies of the Oscar-winning, special effects-laden blockbuster have been sold since it was released on DVD in September, making it the best-selling DVD ever, according to Warner Home Video.

That means the Keanu Reeves flick has sold more copies than "Saving Private Ryan," "The Sixth Sense," Disney’s "Tarzan" and "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me."

It also means that the number of copies of "The Matrix" sold is almost half the estimated number of DVD players in North America (7.5 million).
