When it comes to production value, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Erin Brockovich” are tops.
At least that’s what the Producers Guild of America is saying with its nominees of the best film productions of 2000.
The group also nominated “Almost Famous” “Billy Elliottt” and “Gladiator” for the 12th annual Golden Laurel Awards. The awards will be handed out March 3.
NBC led the group’s nominations for TV comedies with nominations for “Frasier,” “Friends” and “Will & Grace.” Fox’s “Ally McBeal and HBO’s “Sex in the City” also were nominated.
In the drama category, NBC's “The West Wing, “ER” and “Law & Order” received best production nods, along with HBO's “Oz” and ABC's “The Practice.”
This year, the PGA will honor Kirk Douglas with its Milestone Award. Lifetime achievement awards will go to Brian Grazer, producer of “Bowfingerr” and “Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” and David E. Kelley, producer of the TV shows “Ally McBeal” and “The Practice.”
