Actor Charlie Sheen is donating one per cent of his Anger Management pay packet to America's military.

The star has shown off his soft side in recent months, completing a charity race in Illinois and auctioning off a set visit to raise funds for under-privileged girls, and now Sheen has promised to hand over $1 million (GBP625,000) to bosses at the United Service Organization as well as a portion of his new TV sitcom salary to help uniformed men and women and their families.

He tells TMZ.com, "It's an honour for me to be able to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us. They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I'm just happy that my work on Anger Management can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families."
