TV bosses axe Jeff Ross' cinema massacre gag from roast

Aug 06, 2012 | 1:15pm EDT

Ross poked fun at fellow roast guest Seth Green by suggesting he looked like suspect James Holmes during his appearance on the pre-taped comedy show - but the gag didn't go down well with TV executives.

And when the roast airs on 12 August (12), his ill-advised humour will be cut.

Ross also joked, "I'm kidding, you are not like James Holmes. At least he did something in a movie theatre that people remember!"

He isn't the first comic to time a gag about last month's (Jul12) massacre all wrong - Dane Cook apologised after joking about the tragedy during a stand-up show in Los Angeles a week after Holmes' alleged actions claimed the lives of 12 film fans.
