The 73 year old, who also helmed the 1973 film Fury, has filed papers in New York's Manhattan Supreme Court accusing Natasha Diamond-Walker of using her womanly wiles to land "lavish gifts" and an interest-free loan from Calenda so she could buy an apartment in the city.

However, he claims the beauty, who performs with the renowned Martha Graham Dance Company, left him and stopped returning his calls as soon as she secured the luxury home.

Calenda is suing for fraud and unjust enrichment, and is demanding the return of his $775,000 - and $1 million (£625,000) in punitive damages for her "wanton, willful and malicious behaviour".

The former couple reportedly met in February, 2011 when she danced in his show Looking for Picasso in Trieste, Italy.
