The movie star's 36-year-old son was found dead in his Hollywood Hills apartment on 13 July (12) and the tragedy forced the Rocky star to pull out of a series of promotional commitments for his new film The Expendables 2.
But now he's back and he tells U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America he's determined not to let the awful events of his son's passing bring him down.
He says, "It's tough. It's very tough... It's a horrible situation. Time, hopefully, will heal, and you try to get through it, but it's just something. It's a reality of life. I think it's important to get back and start reliving your life. Otherwise, you can go into a spiral."
It's not the only non-film drama Stallone is having to deal with at the moment - his half-sister, Toni Ann Filiti, has been hospitalised in Los Angeles as she battles lung cancer.
