The filmmaker and his Renaissance Pictures partners sued Award Pictures executives in May (12) in a bid to block the upcoming launch of Evil Dead 4: Consequences, an unauthorised follow-up to Raimi's franchise.
The president of Award Pictures, Glenn MacCrae, failed to respond to the legal action and a default judgment for a permanent injunction was entered in a California federal court last week (ends24Aug12), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Raimi recently completed work on a new movie in the horror franchise, simply titled The Evil Dead, which he co-wrote and produced. Fede Alvarez directs the forthcoming project, which is due for release in 2013.
