City refuses to honor Pryor

City Council members in Richard Pryor's hometown of Peoria, Ill., have voted against renaming a street in Pryor's name, according to The Associated Press. City officials had originally backed renaming Peoria's South Sheridan Road after the hometown celebrity, but the City Council experienced a change of heart. The council cited Pryor's infamous drug use and profanity-laden routines as negative influences, making the comedian, 60, unfit to receive the honor.
