Victoria L. White, who was executive producer on the original which starred Julia Roberts, Sally Field and Dolly Parton, took issue with the small screen reboot, claiming she was owed a producer credit and a fee due to a legal ruling relating to a previous TV remake in 1992.
She filed a breach of contract suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday (01Oct12) in a bid to prevent the broadcast of the upcoming Lifetime channel project, which stars Latifah, Phylicia Rashad and Jill Scott, but her request for a temporary restraining order was denied on Friday (05Oct12).
